Meet Saheli, Where Every Stitch Empowers
High in the golden sands of Rajasthan, where the desert stretches endlessly and time moves with the sun, there’s a heartbeat rising from a quiet village called Bhikamkor. It pulses through fabrics hand-dyed in natural hues, through every stitch sewn by patient, powerful hands—and through the voices of women who are reclaiming their stories.
This is the world of Saheli Women, our long-time sister-collective and one of ZAZI’s most beloved partners in purpose. Founded by the visionary Madhu Vaishnav, Saheli began as a small dream—to offer women in rural Rajasthan more than just work, but dignity, agency, and community. Today, that dream is woven into the lives of over 100 women who have found not only economic freedom, but deep connection and pride in their craft.
At ZAZI, we believe in slow fashion rooted in radical love. Our partnership with Saheli is built on mutual respect and shared values—where clothes are not just made, but cared for from seed to stitch.
In Saheli’s two bustling ateliers, you’ll find:
- Natural dyes bubbling over open fires, made from flowers, roots, and local minerals
- Hand-stitched details, each one a signature of the woman who made it
- Traditional Rajasthani techniques passed down through generations—now given new purpose
Each dress in our collection is dyed and stitched by hand—not just as an aesthetic choice, but as an act of reverence for the earth and its people. In a world dominated by fast fashion and factory timelines, these garments are quiet rebellions, each one taking weeks to complete.
But the transformation doesn’t stop at the fabric. Through Saheli, women in Bhikamkor are gaining access to education, healthcare, leadership workshops, and financial training. Young girls who once saw marriage as their only future are now dreaming of opening businesses, becoming designers, or teaching others.
At the heart of it all is Madhu. With warmth in her voice and fire in her mission, she has redefined what it means to be a changemaker. Her vision is not charity—it’s solidarity. Not saving, but standing shoulder to shoulder.
When you wear a ZAZI x Saheli piece, you wear more than a dress. You wear resilience, artistry, and the kind of beauty that grows from the inside out. You carry a piece of the desert with you—a whisper of the women who made it, their laughter, their strength, and their dreams.
