The Pathani dress is a celebration of craftsmanship, femininity, and the poetry of tradition. Hand-dyed in a stunning red color, this off-shoulder silhouette flows like a dream. Designed and co-created with our artisan partners in India, each piece is hand-crafted with care and dyed using traditional techniques that honour time, nature, and artistry.

Because we work with natural dyes, each piece is unique. The final color is shaped by the pH of the water, the weather, and the subtle shifts in nature’s rhythm. Unlike chemical dyes, natural color lives and breathes—small variations are part of its beauty and story.

Saheli Women, a pioneering all-female artisan collective nestled in the rural village of Bhikamkor, India, stands as ZAZI’s inaugural partner. Founded by Madhu Vaishnav, the name "Saheli" evokes the spirit of solidarity and unity among its members. Madhu's vision is to amplify their voices, urging brands and individuals to not just showcase their crafts but to share their stories and thoughts. She envisions a world where the strength and resilience of these women, who transform lives through fashion, are recognized and celebrated.

At the heart of Saheli Women's mission is the revitalization of traditional crafts and the advancement of community development through creativity. Rooted in the ethos of equitable and inclusive design, the collective is committed to empowering rural women both economically and socially.

Through these holistic initiatives, Saheli Women and its partners strive to effect transformative change, fostering a brighter and more equitable future for women and their communities. ZAZI items are handmade with carefully selected natural materials without the use of synthetic chemicals. To cherish your handcrafted ZAZI dress for a longer time, please handle it with care.

This handwoven mulberry silk fabric feels smooth and silky on the skin and is a delicate fabric- so we kindly remind you to handle it with care.
Due to the hand-dyed nature of the fabric, there might be small color variations making each piece one of a kind.
Protect from heavy rain or heat. Should it become wet, we advise to air dry.
Washing by hand and cold is advised to maintain the quality of thread and colour.
Dry-cleaning only.

Meet Nasibi and Pathani – two spirited members of the Saheli Women collective and best friends in and outside the studio. Both are Pakistani Hindu immigrants who found a new sense of home and purpose through their craft. Nasibi, always quick with a cheeky joke, keeps everyone laughing.

Founded by Madhu Vaishnav, Saheli—meaning "female friend" in Hindi—was born from a vision to create not just beautiful garments, but a platform for women’s voices.
