meet the makers
In 1994, Nivedita Banerji founded Kumbaya as a small stitching centre in a remote village in Madhya Pradesh. Today, it has grown into Kumbaya Producer Company Ltd, employing over 100 women from marginalised communities with 300 days of guaranteed work each year. Banerji champions circular fashion—reusing leftover materials to create new garments and sourcing handwoven and artisanal cotton fabrics from skilled craftspeople across India. Nothing goes to waste at Kumbaya.
